Barry Adamson – Moss Side Story

moss-side-storySoundtracks are like wallpaper – you only notice them when you don’t like them. And much of the time, a soundtrack only reminds you why you like a film in the first place. So Barry Adamson’s Moss Side Story could be seen as doubly useless – it’s a soundtrack to a film that doesn’t exist. Though I have a deep affection for movie music, I can’t help but think that recommending this album would be solipsistic. It conjures moods, yes. But they are attached to images that don’t exist, so, without a predilection for enjoying this sort of thing, you might not like it. The dark tone makes it good for late-night listening, but I can’t say it’s fun. I like it – you probably won’t.
