Mick Turner regularly supplies six-string heaven with the non-pareil Dirty
Three, but on this album he’s flying solo. The results are, well, a lot like the Dirty
Three if they didn’t have Warren Ellis on violin and Jim White on drums. While this is
certainly different from your average guitarist’s solo album (some of the prettiest tracks,
like “Leave The Light On,” have nary a guitar in earshot), it doesn’t contain the emotional
wallop that the Dirty Three can at their mightiest. Always lovely, occasionally
meandering, this is meditative music that may not fully suck one in, but is never boring.
