Where the Seeker dons a progressive/ambivalent outlaw/gypsy’s cape — whoa. Early Who’s blistering, compact distortion nearly caused Pete Townshend’s shaky subjects to implode. This is a post-Sell Out, studio-buff marvel. The artless synth alters the fray for greater emotional range, though I dislike the horns on “My Wife.” Chew the tough ‘n’ tender anthems, but dig the rhythm section salvos.
